OXFORD REAL FARM CONFERENCE – PANELIST EXPERIENCE

Fibreshed Launched their new book in January 2024 at the Oxford Real Farming Conference.

The book is called Farming Fashion -Wool and is a Fibreshed guide to localising our clothing system.

WOOL FROM BRITISH NATIVE SHEEP

I was asked to be part of a panel discussion at the conference and feature in their book with advice on wool quality. The book is available from the Southwest Fibreshed website My knitwear range revolves around the sourcing of local and ethically produced wool from British native sheep breeds, letting the wool dictate the style of knitwear.

NATIVE BREEDS

I strive to limit the environmental impact of producing knitwear, the garments are handmade, no dyes are used, I make and sell in the UK and the wools derive from Native sheep breeds, by highlighting the diversity of these breeds and their wools, I hope to raise awareness of the need to keep this gene pool for future generations. The Rare Breeds Survival Trust endeavour to ensure these sheep breeds do not become extinct with a sheep watchlist of the most endangered breeds.
