Teeswater Knitted Quilt

This knitted quilt is made from the wool of the Teeswater sheep, this longwool breed with its long curly locks was bred in the Northeast of England. The design for the central panel is created from a Roman mosaic found in Yorkshire and the Neolithic, swirl pattern pays tribute to the time when sheep first roamed the land in England. The quilt is knitted with a hand-powered domestic machine and filled with sheep’s fleece, it is knitted in panels and then hand-stitched together. The whole process takes about 15 days to complete.
